COMMITMENTS

As the owner of this landmark building, the LVMH Group ensures the long-term preservation of a remarkable architectural heritage, creating a prime commercial location and a thriving multi-use urban site.

Environment: The density of this vast project and the choice to primarily renovate rather than build new structures clearly make sustainable development a pillar of the new La Samaritaine. This focus on sustainability extends to the choices made to reduce the energy consumption of the building and maximize the use of renewable energies. The creation of double or triple skin façades ensures optimal insulation and thermal comfort. La Samaritaine is connected to the Paris district heating and cooling systems (CPCU and Climespace) and is air-conditioned using deep geothermal energy and ice storage. The entire building has been certified to the exacting French and international environmental quality standards HQE, BREEAM, LEED and Qualitel.

Resonance: By bringing the entire neighborhood alive, La Samaritaine re-energizes the entire 1st arrondissement, well beyond the significant activity created by the department store and the hotel. A hundred families will live on Rue de l’Arbre Sec, bringing people back to a part of Paris where permanent residential housing was in structural decline. Their presence, along with the occupants of the office space, will revitalize local businesses in the area.

Employment: La Samaritaine will have a very significant impact on local job creation: 700 positions for the department store and 380 for the hotel, for which recruitment has begun. La Samaritaine estimates that an additional xx jobs will be created, including XX with La Samaritaine’s suppliers and xx  jobs generated in the immediate neighborhood by the activities of the store and the hotel.
